Exclusive Interview with Alberto Blanco Rubio
Alberto, you were the editor and head of the Desván publishing imprint from August 2014 to February 2017, publishing a total of twenty-five works. How many hours does a writer work?
It's not easy to say how many hours a writer works, as it depends on the time each author dedicates to developing their ideas. Writing, like other artistic disciplines, cannot be measured in time. Its essence lies in the very act of creating beauty, a spark born from the mind and adorned with the heart.
Your nine published works stand out, from "Dreams of a Student's Paper" to "The Magician of Forgotten Words." What does writing give you? What will readers find in your works?
For me, writing means being free through imagination and being able to express everything that I sometimes deny to my own voice. Within the pages of my works, readers will find the illusion of a person who dreams of making magic with words to adorn life with unforgettable moments.
"Sighs in Verse of a Free Soul" marks your foray into poetic prose. What role does poetry play in your life?
In these tough times, poetry allows me to escape from reality and let feelings give me the embrace that my loved ones cannot.
You have been recognized for your contribution to the Arts and the Construction of Cultural Identity in the 21st Century. What type of readers do you write for? Is there any literary genre you would like to experiment with but haven't dared to?
I try to write for all types of readers, as there is nothing more gratifying than receiving expressions of gratitude from those who have read my work. Regarding genres, I would like to experiment with essay and theater, although I have great respect for them.
You have taught literary workshops and are a member of literary groups. Any advice for an author facing their first novel?
Let your imagination flow and let dreams turn into words. Writing is a journey worth traveling with an open heart.
